Now what?!

So…

If you read my previous post you must be sure that I’m writing these word from the Caribbeans islands.

You are right.

Just kidding. I’m at home, wearing pajamas and furry Crocs.

Stepping out of your comfort zone takes courage and emotions that drives you nuts unless you do something.

You can’t follow your heart by doing the right things all the time…You must be willing to sacrifice a nice compensation plan with high salary, options, business card and status because of your hope that you can do better, by yourself.

So here I am, with a 30% lower salary, and my stock options are replaced with the option to wake up late 4 days a week.

AWESOME!

And yet, it’s not always comfortable…I need to handle things that weren’t in my list before. I need to convince people DAILY that I’m good in what I’m doing, it’s not like being fed by one resource that knows and appreciates who I am.

But I have to admit that it feels better to know that I have an option to negotiate my income more than before. A full time salaried employee has the option to get a raise (if she/he is lucky) once a year. I repeat, ONCE A YEAR.

If you didn’t sleep well the night before or were too excited because of the raise talk with your boss, that’s it for 2017, now you wait for the next year…

So I have to say that although I still don’t know how to do it best, the learning curve can be much faster and actually much more fun when you have the opportunity to negotiate your salary once in a couple of weeks or months, with every new potential partner.

Wish me luck!
